Help us create an amazing carbon neutral plastic recycling community in Plymouth!

We’re thrilled to announce that Precious Plastic Plymouth & Tavistock CIC has been selected as one of ten community groups to receive funding through the Blue Sparks Community Grants Programme, delivered by Plymouth Sound National Marine Park (PSNMP) and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This exciting three-year programme supports grassroots organisations to help more people connect with, enjoy, and protect Plymouth Sound. Grants of up to £2,500 (and in special cases £5,000) are available — this year, £40,000 has been allocated across ten successful projects.
Precious Plastic Plymouth & Tavistock CIC – Creative Beach Clean & Recycling Challenge
As one of the selected groups, Precious Plastic Plymouth & Tavistock CIC will deliver a Creative Beach Clean & Recycling Challenge. This imaginative, hands-on project connects people with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park through creativity, science, and community action.

How It Works
Participants will:
- Join a community beach clean – collecting plastic litter from the Plym estuary and Plymouth Sound.
- Take part in a human-powered recycling workshop – using our pedal-powered plastic shredder and mini-injection moulder.
- Transform collected litter into new products – functional and beautiful items such as door handles, small pots, buttons, or citizen-science tool
These workshops are energising and empowering, allowing people to literally pedal waste into something new, while learning about recycling, plastic pollution, and sustainability in action.
From Our Team
“The team are excited to be part of the Blue Sparks program. We are looking forward to meeting the other Sparks and getting busy recycling ocean plastics with the people of Plymouth.”
— Dr Kate Crawfurd, Precious Plastic Plymouth & Tavistock CIC
